Mike Leischner

I’m a Parkston native and proud 2009 graduate of Southwest Minnesota State University where I studied Radio and TV. After graduation I stayed in Marshall, MN for a few years covering sports and working at KMHL broadcasting while also serving as the PA announcer for several Marshall Area amateur baseball squads and SMSU Athletics. As for my SD resume, I was actively involved in Parkston legion and amateur baseball for several years in high school, including a stint as a reserve outfielder on Parkston’s 2005 Class B Legion baseball championship team (more like the bookkeeper, but who’s counting?)

Here at KOOL98 I serve as your host for the end of the workday and the drive home, winding down your day with classic tunes and the latest in sports and entertainment news. You’ll also find me covering all the area high schools as play-by-play man for KOOL’s game of the week package of Football and basketball coverage. It’s pretty cool to get to broadcast from all the small gyms and fields that I grew up on in high school!

When I’m not doing radio you can find me watching or participating in some form of athletics, or helping my dad on the farm. My favorite clubs include the LA Angels, Jacksonville Jaguars, Houston Dynamo, University of Colorado, USD, and (of course) SMSU. I also closely follow soccer in England (Barclays Premier League), Spain’s La Liega, and the US Men’s National team.
