Christmas Cash or Coal Rules


Beginning Monday, December 16th, 2024, thru Friday, December 20th, 2024, KOOL 98-3 and KMIT will give listeners the chance to win cash just in time for the holidays via the “Cash or Coal” on-air contesting.

Listeners can win cash, (The value of each cash prize is between $25 and $50.) by winning on-air contests from December 16th and December 20th, 2024. (The value of the Diamond Necklace is $3000.) Listeners can win by calling into any of the qualifying on-air contests when we play the “Cash or Coal” Contest. Listeners must be the designated caller for that particular contest for a chance to win. Listeners must call the contest line at (605) 996-1100 or (605) 996-1751. Eight Cash Winners will win between $25 and $50 Cash. Cash prizes will be won when we play the sounder on air to the correct caller and the cash sounder plays during the contest. There will be 8 cash sounders and 8 coal sounders set up randomly in a rotator cart which we will play back on the air to the correct caller. There will be Eight Coal Qualifiers who will be chosen by being the correct caller and having the coal sounder play during the contest. One of the Eight Coal Qualifiers will have a chance to win a 1 and a half Carat Lab Diamond Solitaire Necklace valued at $3000 from The Diamond Store in Mitchell. The other Seven Coal Qualifiers will each receive a $25 Gift Card from The Diamond Store. All Eight Coal Qualifiers must be present at The Diamond Store on December 20th during the Live Broadcast when we announce the Grand Prize Winner at 2pm CST. Gift Card Prizes and the Grand Prize will be won when the gift cards and Diamond Package are revealed in the sealed envelopes that will be randomly given to the qualifiers. Dates for the Eight Cash Winners of between $25 and $50 each will vary within the on-air contest from December 16th-December 20th, 2024. Any entry on behalf of another person or using another person’s name or phone number is disqualified and ineligible to win any prize. Contesting will be held 3 times each weekday between 6am and 5pm between the two stations KOOL 98-3 and KMIT. Listeners from both stations will be competing for the same prizes.

Listeners can only win one time. Winner is responsible for all applicable state, local and/or Federal taxes. The winner will need to stop by our studios at 501 South Ohlman Street in Mitchell, SD Mon-Fri 8am to 5pm to pick up his/her prize within 30 days of winning.

KOOL 98-3 and KMIT is not responsible for any difficulties contacting KOOL 98-3 and KMIT or entering the Contest, any malfunctions or errors, whether technical or typographical or human error, experienced due to overload, internet availability or texting server issues. KOOL 98-3 and KMIT does not guarantee, and shall not be responsible for, the delivery or timeliness of any electronic entry.

No purchase necessary. Prize is not redeemable or transferable for cash.

KOOL 98-3 and KMIT contests are open to all South Dakotan’s 18 or older who have not won anything on KOOL 98-3 or KMIT in the past 30 days or any prize valued at $600 or more in the past 6 months. Only one winner per household is permitted within 30 days after a household has a winner. Any prize awarded to an ineligible listener will be deemed null and void, and an alternate eligible winner may be named.

KOOL 98-3, KMIT, Mitchell Radio Group, Saga Communications of South Dakota, LLC, and its ultimate parent company, Saga Communications, Inc., their advertising agencies, affiliates, contest sponsors, employees and immediate families of each, and employees of all media of mass communication within a one hundred mile radius of the Mitchell Radio Group main studio are not eligible to win any contest.  Immediate family includes the spouse, great-grandparents, grandparents, parents, brothers, sisters, children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren of the employee and his/her spouse. This also includes individuals for whom the employee is current legal guardian.

Listeners from both KOOL 98-3 and KMIT will be competing for the same prizes.
