When a Minnesota couples oak tree became damaged from a storm, they decided to turn it into a work of art, rather than just remove it. So, they had a local sculptor turn the tree into a giant pencil…a 20-foot-tall No. 2 pencil, to be precise.
Now, thousands gather in the first week or two of June, some costumed as pencils, to witness the ceremonial sharpening.
