The Mitchell School Board received an update on the progress of the construction of the new high school at Thursday’s meeting, which was held at the MCTEA building across from Mitchell High School.  Mitchell Schools Superintendent Dr. Joe Childs said the entrance to the MCTEA building has been closed off, and footings have been poured.  The new high school will be attached to the MCTEA building.  Practice fields have not yet been worked on as the track season has not concluded.

Childs was asked what kinds of questions he’s been getting from the public regarding the new high school and the 17 million dollar bond issue which would add athletic facilities to the new high school.  He told the board that he’s been asked about what the bond issue is for, school logistics, school security, and parking.

The school is expected to be completed sometime in 2025.
