Dakota Wesleyan to host free Midwinter Concerts Feb. 22 and March 1 in Mitchell

MITCHELL, SD (Mitchell Now) The Ron and Sheilah Gates Department of Music at Dakota Wesleyan University will perform two midwinter concerts on Sunday, Feb. 22 and Sunday, March 1, both at 4 p.m. in the Sherman Center on the DWU campus.

“The Sound of Time” on Feb. 22 will feature LyricWood Orchestra, the Wesleyan Jazz Band and the Wesleyan Band.  The Wesleyan Jazz Band and the Wesleyan Band will be conducted by Jason T. Laczkoski.  LyricWood Orchestra will be directed by Elizabeth Soladay.

The vocal concert on March 1 will feature performances by the Dakota Wesleyan Choir, the Highlanders and the Wesleyan Bells.

The Dakota Wesleyan Choir and the Highlanders will be conducted by Dr. Clinton Desmond.  The Wesleyan Bells will be conducted by Erin Desmond.

The concerts are free to all.  The events will also be livestreamed at dwu.edu/live.

Upcoming events include the Ron and Sheilah Gates Department of Theatre’s production of “The Three Musketeers” March 20-22 and 27-29; the spring instrumental concert on April 26; and the spring vocal concert on May 3.
