The Ron & Sheilah Gates department of theatre at Dakota Wesleyan University will hold auditions for their spring musical, “Head Over Heels.” Members of the community are invited to audition for a role or volunteer to be a part of the crew.

“Head Over Heels” is a bold new musical comedy from the visionaries that rocked Broadway with Hedwig and the Angry Inch, Avenue Q and Spring Awakening. This laugh-out-loud love story is set to the music of the iconic 1980’s all-female rock band the Go-Go’s, including the hit songs, “We Got the Beat,” “Our Lips Are Sealed,” “Vacation,” Belinda Carlisle’s “Heaven is a Place on Earth,” and “Mad About You.”

Auditions will be held Tuesday and Wednesday, January 9-10, at 7 p.m. in the DWU Black Box Theatre, inside the Dakota Discovery Museum. Those auditioning should be prepared to do a cold reading, learn a brief dance routine and sing. Singers should come prepared with two 32-bar up-tempo Broadway/rock songs that showcase a strong voice. Auditioners will likely sing both. Instrumental accompaniment must be provided on a USB flash drive; a link to a website; or a device that with an 1/8” output to be plugged into the sound system.

Show dates are March 15-17 and 22-24.

Questions or requests for information should be directed to Chair of DWU Theatre Daniel L. Miller at daniel.miller@dwu.edu.
