MITCHELL, S.D. (MITCHELLNOW) When classes start Aug. 20 at the new Mitchell High School, students and staff will step into a campus filled with natural light, modern classrooms, and upgraded athletic facilities. One key safety feature is a raised crosswalk at the main entrance. Officials said it’s designed to slow traffic and improve accessibility for those with mobility challenges. Superintendent Joe Childs says the crosswalk, along with lighting and signage, will remind drivers to watch for foot traffic. Capital Street, in front of the school, will reopen in time for the new year, with a 15-mile-per-hour speed limit during school hours. Staff be there to show students the new layout to keep everyone safe. For more Government stories from MitchellNow.com, Click Here.
