Mitchell Sports Roundup: Mitchell Girls Golf Final Day at State + Lynx on Five-Game Winning Streak

Mitchell Golf

The Kernel girls golf team will continue with State Tournament competition today. They are out in Watertown, SD competing at Watertown Municipal Cattail Golf Course. After the first day, Mitchell is in third place overall with a 20 over par total. Trailing just O’Gorman (+16) in second and Aberdeen Central (+7) in first. Individually, the Kernels have four in the Top 15. Londyn Hajek and Mia Larson are both tied for 13th with a 78 (+6), Brynlee Sabers is in 12th with a 77 (+5) and Maddie Childs sits tied for eighth with a 75 (+3). Tee off is at 8am again today.

MLB

The Minnesota Twins faced the Chicago White Sox last night in Chicago. Minnesota gets back in the win column after taking down the White Sox last night, 9-6. The two teams managed 21 total hits, but it was the back-to-back four run innings that propelled the Twins to victory. They’ll play Chicago again tonight at 6:40pm on MLBTV.

WNBA

The Minnesota Lynx battled the Phoenix Mercury in a WNBA Commissioner’s Cup game at home. It was pure domination from the Lynx as they dismantled the Mercury, 111-77. Courtney Williams led all scorers with 30 points, and the Lynx have now won five straight games after beginning the season 2-2. They sit at 7-2 overall.

NBA

The NBA Finals begin soon. It’s a rematch of the 1999 Finals as the No. 3 seed New York Knicks take on the No. 2 seed San Antonio Spurs. Back in 1999, the Spurs won over the Knicks 4-2. Game 1 is set for tomorrow night in San Antonio with tipoff at 7:30pm on ABC.
