MITCHELL, SD (Mitchell Now) — Mitchell’s Trail Life USA troop is celebrating a win at its first regional competition.
The church-based boys program captured the traveling team trophy at a Lego Pinewood Derby held in Sioux Falls, according to troop leaders. The derby featured teams building and racing Lego-style Pinewood Derby cars, with points awarded for performance and participation.
The Mitchell troop was chartered in 2024 at Zion Lutheran Church and has grown to about 20 members in its first year. Leaders said the event emphasized teamwork, leadership and skill-building, which are central to the program’s mission.
Trail Life USA is a national youth organization focused on outdoor adventure and character development. Local troop leaders said additional events and activities are planned as membership continues to expand.
