Softball results/next games, Mitchell Track & Tennis competing, DWU Golf teams finish Top 3, Tiger track in action tomorrow, Twins take down Red Sox & NBA Play-In Tournament begins tonight

Mitchell Softball

The Kernel softball team took on Sioux Falls Lincoln yesterday to begin their season. The Kernels struggled from the beginning, allowing 10 runs in the bottom of the first and eventually fell to the Patriots, 16-2. Mitchell will play again today with JV at 4pm and 5:30pm for varsity against Sioux Falls Washington.

Mitchell Track & Field

The Kernel track & field teams are on the road today. They will be in Yankton at Yankton high school against various other schools. They will get started at 4pm.

Mitchell Tennis

The Kernel boys tennis team is set to compete this morning in Mitchell. They’ll be at Hitchcock Park hosting multiple schools. Those matches will begin at 11am.

DWU Golf

The Tiger men’s and women’s golf teams rounded out play in the DWU Spring Invitational yesterday at Lakeview Golf Course in Mitchell. The Tiger men ended up finishing in third as a team with a 29 over par score. Individually they had two guys in the Top 10 as Peyton Betcher came in sixth at four over par and Dakota Munger claimed second place with a two under par score. For the women, they ended in third as a team as well and had a 159 over par score. Individually, three athletes finished in the Top 10. Dakotah Larson got 10th with a 33 over par score, Sara Sudenga finished second with an 18 over par score while Allison Meyerink was the individual winner in first with an 11 over par score. The men’s team is set to compete again tomorrow when they play in the Northwestern Invitational in Orange City, IA at Landsmeer Golf Course. Time is currently listed as TBA.

DWU Track & Field

The Tiger track & field teams are in action tomorrow. Both the men and the women will be at the Bauer Open in Rapid City, SD at O’Harra Stadium. Time is currently listed as TBA.

MLB

The Minnesota Twins kept rolling yesterday after their win over the Boston Red Sox. They scored 11 of their 13 runs in the first two innings of play and never looked back, winning 13-6. Minnesota is finding a groove and are now 10-7 overall.

NBA

The NBA Play-In Tournament begins tonight. It starts with the Miami Heat @ the Charlotte Hornets at 6:30pm on Prime Video. Then you’ll have the Portland Trail Blazers at the Phoenix Suns at 9pm also on Prime Video.
