Mitchell Wrestling

The Kernel girls wrestling team will have their Varsity ESD meet tonight. It will be on the road in Brandon, SD at Brandon Valley high school beginning at 5pm. Additionally, the boys wrestling team will compete tomorrow in their Varsity State Tournament at Pierre T.F. Riggs high school. Time listed as TBD on the Mitchell Activities Calendar.

Mitchell Gymnastics

The Kernel gymnastics team is set to host the Class AA Varsity State Tournament tomorrow, in which they will also compete in. It will be in the Mitchell high school main gym. Start time is listed as TBD.

Mitchell Hockey

The Marlins boys hockey team will get back to the ice tomorrow night on the road. They’ll be in Fort Pierre, SD to take on Oahe at the Oahe Expo Center. The puck will drop at 8pm.

DWU Basketball

The Tiger basketball teams each took on the Waldorf Warriors last night on the road. The No. 9 women’s basketball had a dominant performance as expected against a struggling Waldorf team and won with ease, 115-46. Taliyah Hayes led the scoring with 19 points in the game. DWU WBB improved to 21-4 overall and 17-2 in the Great Plains Athletic Conference. For the men, they began the game strong with a 49-37 lead at the half, but the second half surge from the Warriors gave the Tigers a bit of a scare. Waldorf won the second half 50-45 but still came up short in the end as the Tigers had a 94-87 victory. Steele Morgan led the way with an 18-point and 12-rebound double-double. DWU MBB improved to 14-11 overall and 9-8 in the GPAC.

DWU Track & Field

The Tiger track & field teams are both in competition tomorrow. They’ll each be in the Mount Marty Last Chance Meet in Yankton, SD. Time is listed as TBA on the DWU website.

SDSU Basketball

The Jackrabbit basketball teams are both in action tonight but play against different opponents. The women will be facing North Dakota at home in Brookings, SD at First Bank & Trust Arena. Tipoff will be at 7pm and airs on the Summit League Network/Midco Sports. The men will be in Denver, CO taking on Denver. Tipoff is at 8pm and will air on the Summit League Network.

NBA

The Minnesota Timberwolves hosted the Portland Trail Blazers last night at home. It was all Julius Randle for Minnesota in the game as he posted 41 points and seven rebounds in the 133-109 route over the Trail Blazers. The Timberwolves shot 52% from the field and 41% from deep. They now improve to 34-22 overall.
