Sports Roundup: Tuesday 9/2/25

Mitchell Golf

The Kernel boys golf team will compete in the Marchand Cup this afternoon. They’ll be facing Yankton at Lakeview Golf Course in Mitchell and start at 2pm.

Mitchell Soccer

The Kernel soccer teams both had games yesterday afternoon. Each team came away with a win over Groton Area. The girls won by a score of 1-0 and the boys had a dominant win, 6-0.

DWU Golf

The Tiger men’s golf team will be competing again tomorrow. They will play in the Blue River Class at the Highlands Golf Course. Time is TBA according to the DWU website.

DWU Volleyball

The (RV) Tiger volleyball team will be playing on the road tonight. They will travel to Madison, SD to face (RV) Dakota State at 7pm in the DSU Fieldhouse.

DWU Soccer

The Tiger soccer teams will both play tonight, but against different opponents and in different locations. The men will be at home taking on Providence at the Pepsi-Cola Soccer Complex at 5pm. The women will be on the road facing Buena Vista at J. Leslie Rollins Stadium in Storm Lake, Iowa at 7pm.

MLB

The Minnesota Twins opened up a new series with the Chicago White Sox yesterday and it was tight. Only three of the nine innings didn’t have a run scored. The White Sox rallied late and beat the Twins, 6-5. The two teams play again tonight at 6:40pm.

WNBA

The Minnesota Lynx faced a depleted Dallas Wings team yesterday and took advantage. It was a dominant 96-71 win for Minnesota. They were led by Napheesa Collier who had 25 points, followed by Natisha Hiedeman with a 20-point and 10-assist performance. Her 10 assists were a career-high mark. The Lynx improved to 32-8 on the season.
