State Champions from every class, Mitchell sends Dave Brooks out on a winning note, DWU Baseball cancellation, Tiger WBB headed to Sioux City & Timberwolves fall to Thunder

Mitchell Basketball

The (RV) Kernel girls basketball team advanced to the Consolation Championship for the fourth year in a row over the weekend. There they faced No. 4 seed Rapid City Stevens, and it was big nights for Addie Siemsen and Nia Talley that guided Mitchell to back-to-back Consolation Championships after a 59-53 win. Siemsen led all scorers with 21 points, and Talley added a 12-point & 10-rebound double-double. Additionally, Siemsen was named All-Tournament team as well. The Kernel girls end their season 15-9 overall and marking the end of the head coaching career of Dave Brooks after four seasons. Brooks finished with 61 total wins, 51 wins against Class AA opponents and 30 wins against teams in the Eastern South Dakota Conference.

DWU Baseball

The Tiger baseball team originally had a pair of games slated to be played at home tomorrow night against Bismarck State (ND). Though, due to the weather, those games have been cancelled.

DWU Basketball

The No. 9 Tiger basketball team is officially Sioux City bound! After taking care of business on Friday, they managed to beat No. 10 seed College of the Ozarks on Saturday by a score of 76-53. Emma Yost led the way with 23 points and Avery Broughton added a 12-point and 13-rebound double-double. The No. 2 seeded Tigers advance to the Round of 16 in Sioux City, IA for the second time in the last three seasons. They will face No. 3 seed Lindsey Wilson on Friday, March. 20 at the Tyson Events Center.

NBA

The Minnesota Timberwolves saw action yesterday afternoon when they faced the Oklahoma City Thunder. It was a solid battle between the two teams, but in the end the Thunder got the win 116-103. Julius Randle led Minnesota with 32 points and six assists. The Timberwolves fall to 41-27 after the loss.
