MITCHELL, S.D. (MITCHELLNOW) Senator John Thune says passing a new farm bill will be a top priority when lawmakers return to Washington next month. The bill is now two years overdue, but Thune notes much of its framework was included in the recently passed budget bill. Speaking at an ag policy forum at Dakotafest in Mitchell on Wednesday, Thune stressed the importance of getting farm legislation approved and said he’s optimistic about securing the 60 votes needed to pass a final version.
