Tonight’s Basketball Games

Mitchell Basketball

The Kernel basketball teams are back on the hardwood again tomorrow. They are again split home/away as they prepare to face Pierre T.F. Riggs with the girls at home, but in the Corn Palace and the boys are on the road. It starts at 4pm with the boys freshman and JV teams playing, then at 4:30pm the freshman girls and JV will play. Then at 5:15pm you’ll have the sophomore boys and at 5:30pm the sophomore girls. Both varsity teams tipoff at 7pm.

Mitchell Wrestling

The Kernel girls wrestling team will have a busy afternoon tomorrow. They’ll be competing in their Varsity Regional Tournament (Region 3), and they will do so at home. It’ll all go down in the Mitchell high school main gym and begin at 3pm.

DWU Basketball

The Tiger basketball teams took on the Dordt Defenders last night in the Corn Palace for Senior Night. It was a Top 10 ranked battle between the No. 9 DWU women and the No. 1 Dordt. The Tigers were in control in the first half with a 31-22 lead at the break, but the third quarter made the difference as the Defenders won Q3 24-13 and just kept rolling from there. They ended up winning it, 65-59. Emma Yost led the way with an 18-point and 10-rebound double-double while Avery Broughton added an 11-point and 13-rebound double-double as well. DWU WBB is now 21-6 overall and 17-4 in the Great Plains Athletic Conference. For the men, they had themselves a battle as well. After trailing at the half by five, they stormed back in the second half and the game got sent into overtime. It was neck-and-neck in OT, but it was the Defenders who emerged victorious with a 92-91 win. With the loss, the DWU men fall to 14-13 overall and 9-10 in the GPAC.

DWU Wrestling

The (RV) Tiger men’s wrestling team is set to hit the mats again tomorrow and continue into Saturday. They’ll compete in the GPAC Championships out in Orange City, IA. Time is not yet listed on the DWU website for when they will begin.

DWU Track & Field

The Tiger track & field teams also have a busy day tomorrow and into Saturday. They’ll be competing in the GPAC Indoor Championships in Sioux Center, IA. Time is not yet listed on the DWU website.

DWU Softball

The Tiger softball team will have themselves a tournament beginning tomorrow. They’ll compete in the Nelson Family Bubble Tournament in Jamestown, ND. First, they will face Minot State (D2) at 3:30pm and then face Dickinson State (ND) at 6pm.

SDSU Basketball

The Jackrabbit men’s basketball team took on North Dakota State last night. They gave one of the best teams in the Summit League a fight and were within three at the halftime break. Though the Bison were able to get past the Jackrabbits in the end and won, 74-66. Matthew Mors and Damon Wilkinson led the way with 18 points each. The Jackrabbit women will get back to the court tonight. They’ll travel to Tulsa, OK to take on Oral Roberts with tipoff at 7pm. It will air only on the Summit League Network.
