MITCHELL, SD (Mitchell Now) — Travel South Dakota is getting international recognition for its marketing work, taking home seven awards in the Hospitality Sales and Marketing Association International’s (HSMAI) Adrian Awards, a global competition focused on travel and tourism campaigns.

The South Dakota Department of Tourism said the wins included two “Best of Category” honors and came from a field of more than 800 entries worldwide.

Among the awards listed in the state release were a Gold “Best of Category” for “GoPro on Winter Adventure in South Dakota,” plus Gold awards for “All Types of Crazy Welcome” and “Arts and Culture.” The department also received Silver awards for “Forever 605” (also labeled “Best of Category”), “So Much South Dakota, So Little Time,” a social media influencer campaign, and an Apple Maps guide program.

Tourism Secretary James Hagen said the awards reflect collaboration and storytelling aimed at driving measurable tourism growth in South Dakota.

HSMAI describes the Adrian Awards — now in their 69th year — as one of the travel industry’s premier marketing competitions.
